The Mother City’s beaches have once again met international standards of excellence after securing Blue Flag status.

This was revealed after the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa confirmed that the city’s beaches are fully compliant with Blue Fag status standards.

“I am thrilled that our Blue Flag beaches continue to meet international standards of excellence. This was confirmed recently when Cape Town was hailed by the popular travel website, Lonely Planet, as the second best beach in the world. Tripadvisor also toasted the city’s accommodation providers in its 2011 Travellers Choice Awards,” said City of Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato.

The beaches were lauded for its safety and security services over bustling festive season and recent ablution facilities upgrades.

The City’s Gert Bam further commended the staff that worked tirelessly to ensure that they were safe and secure over the period.
