Five people, including a one-year-old baby, died in an accident on the N1 highway, in the direction of Paarl near Klapmuts early yesterday evening.
It is believed that the driver of a silver Toyota Camry lost control of the vehicle, which veered over the island and into the oncoming traffic lane. The vehicle then collided with a Mercedes Benz bus that was traveling in the direction of Paarl.
The police’s Inspector Bernadine Steyn says none of the 41 bus occupants sustained serious injuries. All but one of the people traveling in the Camry died at the scene.
