The thieves, who stole closed-circuit television cameras in a Mitchell’s Plain primary school, have been identified.
Their identities were recorded despite the missing cameras.
Safe Schools co-ordinator Nariman Khan said the security company, who installed the cameras, were able to view the last images on the camera before they were stolen.
However, Khan said they were only able to view the footage of Cascade Primary School and not the images from a school in Tafelsig.
12 cameras were stolen from Cascade Primary School since the school re-opened for the new term and 4 cameras were stolen from a school in Tafelsig.
CCTV cameras were installed at some of the high risk schools in the province to curb vandalism and burglaries. For safety reasons the schools could not be identified at the time.
