Cope has reacted to the attack by Cosatu on the party’s president Mosiua Lekota and Alec Erwin for being responsible for the proposed transaction to purchase the Airbus transport aeroplanes.
Cope says in a statement the suggestion that these two individuals are responsible for the proposed transaction is just plain silly.
Cope says Cosatu should realize that the Cabinet is collectively responsibility for such decisions.
COPE also supports the call for a review of the proposed procurement decision, not because there is any evidence of wrongdoing, but because the reported price escalation needs to be explained.
