President Jacob Zuma has defended the aim of the African National Congress proposed Media Appeals Tribunal.
He says the aim of the proposed Media Appeals Tribunal is to protect the public from unfair reporting in the print media.
Zuma stated the tribunal should operate in the same way as the Independent Communications Authority worked in relation to the broadcast media.
President Jacob Zuma was addressing MPs at the National Assembly yesterday when he said “the right to freedom of expression should not be elevated above other equally important rights such as the right to privacy, and more important rights and values such as human dignity”.
