Residents of Hammanskraal,
north of Pretoria, continued to block roads in the township late into the night
as police patrolled the area following violent protests.
The city says at least 16,000
people have illegally been occupying land in an area known as Sekampaneng. Six
people were injured in the attacks which are being investigated.
Meanwhile… Residents of
Plastic View informal settlement, east of Pretoria, have pleaded with police to
help them restore peace in their community. This follows violent clashes
between Basotho and Zimbabwean nationals over the weekend in the area.
Residents say tensions between
the two groups have been simmering for years, resulting in constant clashes.
