The Cancer Association of South Africa held their annual fundraiser at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday.
The 2007 Cansa Shavathon, now its third year, saw hundreds of people flock to the popular tourist attraction to have their heads shaved for charity.
For a R50 donation supporters were given the option of either having their hair sprayed in an array of different colours or having their hair shaved off.
Fadwa Walker of Cansa told a weekend paper that hair loss is something that people really associate with chemotherapy and cancer, so having your hair shaved or sprayed is a way of showing solidarity with cancer sufferers.
All long hair that is shaved is kept and used to make wigs for chemotherapy patients.
