A routine check at a roadblock by Beaufort West police led to the arrested of a couple involved in perlemoen smuggling.
Perlemoen with a street value of R520 000 was seized from a man and woman when their bakkie was stopped by officials yesterday.
The 49-year-old man and 43-year-old woman are facing charges of dealing in and being in possession of perlemoen without a permit this according to a weekend paper.
The couple are to appear in the Beaufort West magistrate’s court on Monday.
