Lunar eclipse visible in Cape Town

By Chanel September
4 March 2007

The total eclipse of the moon was visible to South Africans late last night into the early hours of this morning.

The main part of the eclipse started at half past eleven the evening, and ended just after three-o-clock this morning.

An eclipse occurs when the Earth and the Moon move together through space around the Sun.

According to the, Psychohistorian website, locations for viewing the eclipse did not matter as it would be visible from anywhere. However it became overcast just before the full eclipse making viewing difficult. The last total lunar eclipse visible from South Africa was in October 2004.
