A clean up operation is currently underway within the Correctional Services Department.

The revamp of the department was announced by the Minister for Correctional Services Ngconde Balfour on Friday this according to a weekend paper. Balfour says the department is now at a stage where the focus must be on the implementation of key deliverables.

New measures taken by the department included a bad-debt tracking system, an integrated corporate services system and decentralising the recruitment process to regions.

The department also intends to run a pilot project to attract and retain scare skills such as artisans and pharmacist and aims to establish special project teams to deal with the control of assets and vehicles.
