A Kuilsriver constable has shot dead his one and a half year old son before turning the gun on himself in the early hours of this morning.
It is alleged that the 27-year-old constable, took his son to the main bedroom where he shot him in the chest and head the toddler died on the scene. He then shot himself in the head.
Police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn, says he was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in a critical condition.
The policeman’s wife was not home during the incident.
A case of murder is being investigated.
