The Democratic Alliance is disappointed in the minister of mineral and Energy Affairs has granted mining rights to mine in the Wild Coast.

The mining will take place in the portion of Xholobeni Mining Projects, this portion is seen by many as a bio diversity Hotspot DA MP Gareth Morgan says that eve if the mining will create jobs but the damage will be permanent

“Even if it is smaller than we expected but we are still disappointed as it is a very important biodiversity hotspot”

“We believe that Eco Tourism would be the preferred means to create jobs in the area. The jobs created by mining will probably last for only two decades and it would be much lesser than it would have been Eco Tourism.” Said Gareth Morgan

“So we urge the minister, since we used the intercoastal management bill to prohibit future mining rights to be granted in this important place that is not only an asset to the local people but an asset to the rest of the country”
