Drag racing is a threat to the lives of residence and other road users and is strictly banned.
In the latest operation, traffic officers and the SAPS closed in on drag racers which were taking place in Modderdam Road, Symphony Road and 9th Avenue in Belhar and in Lincoln Street in the Bellville area.
Spokesperson for Cape Town Traffic Services Merle Lourens says that “due to numerous complaints of drag racing in Modderdam Road in Belhar, the department has decided to clamp down on them and held an operation last week, where we apprehended eighteen of the culprits and they have been charged with inconsiderate driving.”
