Cape Town police are working on several leads in connection with the murder of University of Cape Town student Pakiso Benny Moqobane.
The first year medical student was gunned down in Observatory while he was walking home on Monday evening.
Police say it is likely that Moqobane approached the men in the car, thinking they needed directions, and was brutally executed.
The motive is still unclear.
Meanwhile hundreds of students, academics and staff of the university took part in a march this afternoon in memory of Pakiso Benny Moqobane.
People gathered after the march on the campus to celebrate Moqobane’s life.
His family, from Brandfort in the Free State, did not attend the proceedings.
No motive for the murder has been established, but speculation is that it could have been part of a gang initiation.
