Three people have been injured after a Ford Laser and a Toyota Corolla on Otto Du Plessis Drive collided between Big Bay and Melkbosstrand yester afternoon.
The Fire Department used the "Jaws of Life" to help paramedics extricate the driver of the Ford from the vehicle.
The patient had sustained serious injuries and he was taken to New Somerset Hospital.
“A man believed to be the driver of the Toyota, who was allegedly ejected from the vehicle, was in a critical condition and advanced life support treatment was initiated on the scene to stabilise the patient,” said ER24 spokesman Tristan Wadely.
Wadely says the man was then transported to Milnerton Medi-Clinic for further stabilisation.
“Another occupant of the Toyota sustained moderate injuries and was taken to New Somerset Hospital,” he added.
Police were in attendance and are investigating the incident. Otto Du Plessis Drive was closed in both directions while emergency services worked on scene.
