President Jacob Zuma will this afternoon officially announce the country’s new Chief Justice who will take over from Pius Langa.
It is expected that Constitutional Court Judge Sandile Ngcobo will be confirmed as South Africa’s third Chief Justice post-1994.
Langa together with other retiring Justices Albie Sachs, Yvonne Mogoro, and Kate O’Regan bid farewell to their colleagues at the Constitutional Court yesterday.
Zuma nominated Ngcobo for the position earlier last month with the judge later being interviewed by the Judicial Service Commission.
It is not clear when the president will announce the names of the other three judges and one vacant post at the court.
