Body of a missing man recovered in Knysna

The South African Police Services and the SAPS Water Policing and Dive Services in Knysna recovered the body of a missing man, aged in his early 20s, on Thursday. This follows searching for the man after his canoe capsized earlier this week. The body of the missing man was recovered from the water by police divers, and he was declared deceased.

The man who was rescued by NSRI rescue swimmers on Wednesday evening, at the scene, after he had gallantly attempted to rescue his friend on the canoe that capsized, he is recovering in hospital in the care of doctors and nurses.

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says he commends all the units that continue to assist when a search is required.

"During the ongoing air, shoreline, underwater and surface water search and recovery efforts, on Thursday, the body of the missing man was located and recovered from the water by police divers” said Craig Lambinon, NSRI spokesperson.
