It is alleged that Phuti Given Mothemane approached a member of NPA in September 2022, and offered R50 000 to file representations in favor of his client or make the State's case to disappear.

The Hawk’s Siyabulela Vukubi said a warrant of arrest was issued for the 35-year-old. Mothemane made his first court appearance at the Belville regional Court on Friday and the case was postponed to 9 October.

‘’A warrant of arrest was issued and was executed by the Serious Corruption Investigation team hence the arrest. The accused have made the first appearance in the Bellville Regional Court on 8 September 2023. He is out on R5 000 bail,’’ said Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi.

‘’The Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Western Cape, Major General Makgato has welcomed the arrest by the team and further reiterated that no one is above the law and DPCI will continue to root out any criminal elements in our society,’’ he added.
