YCL attacks statement made by education minister

The Young Communist League strongly condemns statements made by the Minister of education, Naledi Pandor. In a speech made at the 52nd National Conference of the African National Congress, Pandor said that having free education in South Africa is nothing but a pipe-dream.

National Spokesperson for the YCL, Castro Ngobese says that her statement, publicly dismissing and denouncing free education was inappropriate as it goes against the policy of the ANC. He says that by making the statement, she is clearly undermining the ANC’s policy of resolutions and the principle of democratic centralism.
“The minister is out of order. The ANC has made a decision, so she cannot publicly say that the decision taken by the ANC is wrong,” said Ngobese.

A statement made by the YCL says that these remarks are also an attack on the continuous struggles waged by both the students and youth movements in smashing the colonial and capitalist orientated education system in our country.
