A Cape Town nurse died of a suspected heart attack when she and her three colleagues were attacked by five men in Muizenberg last night.

Police spokesperson Captain Steven Knapp says the four nurses had just gotten out of a taxi on their way home when the suspects approached them, demanding their handbags.

“The victims tried to run away, but the 43-year-old woman collapsed. Her colleagues tried to assist her, but died on the scene,” said Knapp.

Knapp says the suspects managed to rob the three remaining nurses of their handbags, after which they fled the scene on foot.

“The following clothing description was given of two of the suspects, one was dressed in a red trouser and checked jacket, while the second suspect was dressed in a white trouser and grey jacket,” he concluded.

He says they are investigating a case of robbery and registered an inquest docket into the death of the 43 year old deceased who resides in Rondevlei, Lavender Hill.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the investigating officer Constable Patrick Mdokwana from Muizenberg SAPS at (021) 787 9028.
