Metro police arrested four suspects during a drug raid in Kewtown, Athlone yesterday after receiving numerous complaints about drug smuggling in the area.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at a block of flats in Kewtown.
“We were assisted by members of the Athlone police station and drugs were found on the premises and two males and two females, including a highflyer, who were in the flat at the time, were arrested and taken to the Athlone police station and charged with dealing in illegal substances,” Metro Police spokesperson, Nowellen Petersen.
45 packets of tik, three mandrax tablets, 17 units of cocaine and R6 230 was also confiscated.
“Operation Razor was implemented since the beginning of September this year and during this period we arrested over 150 motorists for drunk driving and over 35 people were arrested for drug related offences,” said Petersen.
