Suspects Arrested for Illegal Possession of Firearms and Drug Related Charges in Nyanga

The South African Police Service's Anti-Economical and Extortion task team arrested four suspects in Nyanga East on Tuesday for firearm and drug-related offenses coninuing SAPS efforts to reduce illegal distribution of drugs and firearms in the streets of Cape Town.

SAPS, acting on a tip-off, raided a premises on Vukani Street, Zwelitsha, and found a 9mm parabellum pistol with a removed serial number and 9mm rounds hidden in the ceiling in the toilet. Three men were arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

In a separate incident on Zwelitsha Drive, officers discovered 44 Boss mandrax tablets worth R3,520 and arrested a 41-year-old man for dealing in drugs after receiving information about drug dealing on the premises.

The suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrates' Court after he is charged.
