Children and youth unite to combat xenophobia and racism

At the Anti Racism/Xenophobia Campaign held at Oval North high school in Mitchell’s Plain, children and youth from schools across the Western Cape, but mainly from Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain met to share experiences of xenophobia and racism. They also discussed ways in which to take action against racism and xenophobia.

Lindile Ndlovo, media liaison for the Children’s Resource Centre, says that at least 400 people are expected to attend the convention.
“The aim of this conference is to give an opportunity to our members- mostly children and youth- to discuss how we can take it (anti-xenophobia and anti-racism) forward,” said Ndlovo.

The Children’s Movement (CM) and the Children’s Resource Centre (CRC) in Rondebosch, ANEX, Protestant Pentecostal Church (PPC) and Peacejam, attended the conference as they share a common goal to stand united in a campaign against Xenophobia and Racism.
