Cosatu has proposed a motion calling on government ministers who bought luxury cars at the taxpayers expense to return them.

As the row over the cars continued this week, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan yesterday urged government ministers to take a "hard look" at themselves following the widespread public outcry at the buying spree.

Gordhan , who was praised by the labour federation for not buying an expensive car - was speaking yesterday at the summit of Nedlac, the labour and economic advisory council.
