During their investigation police could not find any traces of a burglary, forced entry or theft in the house.
The incident left police Constable Percy Musiu fatally wounded, with a bullet wound in his chest.
Police spokesperson, Inspector November Filander says they are waiting to take the statement from the home owner who is currently in a critical condition in hospital, after he was shot during the incident for furthering their investigation.
Inspector Filander also says the firearm that is believed to have killed Musiu was seized in the house and analysis will be conducted.
