Two grade nine pupils have been released into the custody of their parents, after appearing in court yesterday, in connection with the stabbing of fellow pupils at a school in Bonteheuwel.

The Arcadia High School pupils, aged 16 and 17, are accused of using a pen to stab one of their peers in the head on Tuesday. The second victim was stabbed in his lower back.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.

MEC Donald Grant says trauma counselling sessions have been arranged for pupils and teachers at the school.

Police visibility has also been increased since the incident.
