A salvage company is making steady progress with the pumping of oil from the bulk carrier Seli One, which ran aground off Bloubergstrand this week.
The salvage team has good weather for today’s operation, but are racing against time as another cold front approaches.
Smit Salvage spokesperson, Clare Gomes, says bad weather could release some left over oil, given the damage to the ship.
Environmental Affairs personnel are setting up booms across the mouth of the Milnerton Lagoon to protect the body of water.
