A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Cape Town for allegedly running a fraudulent investment scheme involving more than 200-million-Rand.

Mostly elderly people invested in the so-called investment scheme since 2009. Earlier this year the man fled the country and went into hiding overseas.

The Bloemfontein's Commercial Crime Unit found out that he returned to South Africa. He was then traced and found and was arrested in Cape Town.

He will be appearing in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday.
