Western Cape traffic officers seized dagga worth estimated R9m

The Western Cape MEC for Mobility, Ricardo Mackenzie, has applauded the efforts of provincial traffic officers in fighting crime.

Traffic officers found a ton of dagga worth an estimated street value of nine-million rand in a truck near Beaufort West.

The truck was travelling from Durban to Cape Town and he driver of the truck was arrested.

The officer also arrested a taxi driver in another incident when they found dagga weighing over 13 kilograms in his vehicle. The taxi was also stopped near Beaufort West.

Mackenzie says the provincial traffic officers are doing a good job of keeping the public safe.

‘’Our Provincial Traffic Services continue to make the Western Cape safer, with their 24/7, 365-days-a-year enforcement presence. I salute the commitment of our officers and officials who do everything they can to protect the public and serve the province they love.’’
