A fire left has 800 people with no shelter after it burnt 150 shacks in Imizamo Yethu settlement in Hout Bay this morning.
Cape Town Disaster Management’s Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said there were no injuries reported and two fire fighters have been hospitalized for smoke inhalation but will be discharged soon.
The cause is said to be unknown.
Solomons-Johannes said the incident started at four o’clock in the morning and 16 fire engines battled for over two hours to bring the fire under control.

“The fire was extinguished right about six o’clock this morning.”
Disaster Management is on the scene in conjunction with the Housing Department busy with the dispensing of the disaster relief aid with funding is being provided by the provincial government.
