City of Cape Town mayor Dan Plato will embark on a community outreach programme title “Taking the City to the People”.
The programme aims to hear what residents feel are their most important service delivery needs.
In a media statement the city says they are fully committed to engaging with its residents about what they feel should be done to further promote service delivery in Cape Town.
As part of this, the City will also explain to residents the limitations within which it operates, so that residents can understand that compromises need to be made.
“This in-depth communication will allow an ongoing dialogue between residents and the City’s leadership so that the best possible outcome can be reached under the existing constraints,” the statement said.
At the meeting residents will be able to highlight major issues that are affecting their community as a whole.
For personal concerns, residents are encouraged to utilise the City’s existing political structures such as Councillors, Sub-councils and Ward Forums.
The Mayor’s Outreach Programme will run until 3 December 2009.
