Two Mossel Bay fishermen have been rescued in dramatic fashion after spending some six hours sitting on the overturned hull of their ski-boat, while a huge Great White shark circled them.
The ski-boat Rossi carrying owner and skipper 65-year-old Daan Thomas and his 62-year-old crewman Hannes Le Roux overturned yesterday afternoon.
The fish they had caught almost immediately attracted the shark.
Le Roux made a desperate dive under the hull to retrieve their flares.
The men were eventually found safe last night after drifting some six sailing miles with the shark for company.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says the fishermen were rescued safe, they did not require any medical assistance and the boat has been recovered.
