Provincial parliament speaker probed for reckless driving

The speaker in the Western Cape provincial parliament is being probed for reckless driving after an accident in a luxury government vehicle.

According to the reports, Democratic Alliance member Sheikh Shahid Esau was driving the car involved in a collision with the vehicle of an elderly couple near Muizenberg.

Esau is a founding member of the Mitchells Plain Islamic Welfare Association and a prominent member of the Muslim Judicial Council.

The 80-year-old man in the other car, Isghak Ryklief, says Esau told him he would “fix everything”.
