Democratic Alliance leader, Helen Zille, has accused Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, of giving in to the demands of the South African Democratic Teachers Union(SADTU).
In her weekly newsletter, Zille says Motshekga is doing this with her proposed regulations to restrict even further the ability of public schools to pay good teachers extra, in order to maintain their services.
Zille says SADTU spends a lot of its time defending poor performance.
She says with the proposals, Motshekga is further dragging down poor education.
