A 38 year-old police officer is in a serious condition after being shot at the corners of Klipfontein Road and Belgravia Road in Athlone.
ER24 paramedics says the officer was taken to the Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital for medical treament after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
It is alleged that a second police officer was also shot and rushed to hospital before paramedics arrived on the scene.
The circumstances around the shooting were unclear to paramedics in attendance.
