Security tightens around Ventersdorp

Media reports say security is tight in the normally-quite farming town of Ventersdorp in the North West today where two farm-workers appear in court again today.

The accused aged 15 and 28 appear for a formal bail hearing.

The two men stand accused of murdering Afrikaner right wing leader Eugene Terre’blanche.

Police say they are prepared for any eventuality, as the pair’s last court appearance saw racial tensions flare, forcing authorities to use razor wire to split white and black groups apart.

Reports say a smaller number of on-lookers have gathered outside the courthouse than were seen last week.
