The Democratic Alliance has called for the SAPS to suspend and act speedily against the police officers who allegedly raped a 20 year old from Athlone in Camps Bay.
The DA says that people who are entrusted to safeguard the community through visible policing are the perpetrators in this case and this is cause for great concern.
“The DA urges the Minister of Community Safety to intervene without delay and to prevent the criminal justice failing the victim and turning her into yet another statistic,” says DA spokesperson for Community Safety Advocate Lennit Max.
It is reported that the investigation of the alleged rape will be finalised at the end of October.
