The public hearings on housing developments agency bill took place at Parliament today.
According to the Portfolio Committee Parliament the Bill seeks to establish the Housing Development Agency, whose objectives are among other things, to develop a strategic plan with regard to identifying and acquiring land for residential and community development.
The hearings were attended by the Institute for Housing of South Africa, The Banking Association of South Africa and members of the middle village community.
Mr Themba Mthethwa from the Institute for Housing of South Africa was the first speaker at the public hearings discussing the role of the Institute in delivering houses, he was then followed by Mr Cas Coovadia the Managing director of the Banking Association of South Africa who presented ways and suggestions of how the Association finds interests in the Bill and how it can be adjusted.
The public hearings on the Bill proceeds on Wednesday the 5th of March.
