Two German tourists have drowned at Koegel Baai near Gordon’s Bay.
According Craig Lambinon, National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson the man and a woman both in their 20’s were part of a group of Germans planning to attend a wedding today.
“They went swimming at a beach next to the Cool Bay camping sites and were apparently swept out to sea by rip currents,” says Lambinon.
Lambinon further elaborate that Lifeguards rushed in to rescue the victims, but despite extensive efforts by paramedics both were declared dead on the scene.
The tourists were from Potsdam in Germany.
“The German Consulate, Police and the Department of Foreign Affairs are assisting with next of kin notification,” he added.
