Tomorrow the executive Mayor of Cape Town Helen Zille and Councillor Dan Plato, Mayoral Committee Member for Housing, will hand keys to 40 beneficiaries in the Tafelsig Housing Project to beneficiaries.
The Tafelsig Housing Project TA4 will eventually have 597 houses and should be completed by May 2009.
The Mitchells Plain Phase 1 Project was initiated to create 1838 new housing opportunities for people on the Mitchells Plain housing list as well as identified informal settlements and backyarders in Mitchells Plain.
Four sites were identified for the project, TA2 situated opposite the Tafelsig Library, TA4 on the corner of Tafelberg and Swartklip Roads, EA1 in Eastridge on the corner of Spine and Swartklip Roads and the Freedom Park site located off Tafelberg Road.
Douglas Norman, Project Manager says this is the first phase of the housing project and to the introduce beneficiaries to their new homes as well as hand over keys to them.
