Twenty one abandoned or orphaned children, all younger than four years, were delighted to receive gifts, clothes and food today when Metro Police Officers surprised them with an unexpected but very welcome Xmas party.
The happy recipients at the Nomzamo Place of Safety in Langa were chosen for the goodwill programme by the Area West Division of the Metro Police Department who wished to make a tangible and positive commitment to the sixteen days of activism against the abuse of women and children campaign.
“This demonstrates that we have a social responsibility commitment to the communities that we serve and that we are not just there to arrest people and issue fines,” said Nowellen Petersen, Metro Police spokesperson.
