The Western Cape Human Settlements MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela tomorrow will be handing over 91 titled deeds in Belhar.
Ministry Spokesperson Bruice Oom said that 21 of the beneficiaries are over the age of 60.
Oom also said the title deeds transfer and handover is part of the Departments strategy to inculcate a sense of ownership and responsibility amongst housing beneficiaries.
These houses were originally sold to beneficiaries under a loan agreement.
Oom said the title deeds were not transferred from the government to the beneficiaries until the loans were paid off.
He added that using the current housing subsidy, the government pays an amount towards the outstanding loan, and if the loan is cleared using the subsidy contribution, then the house is transferred to the beneficiary.
