CDP: double standards on corruption now ridiculous

The Christian Democratic Party said that there is no reason that the two Northern Cape MEC’s Alvin Botes and John Block should not be suspended.

This comes after news that the Supreme Court in Pretoria, found that sufficient evidence had been provided for the Asset Forfeiture Unit to declare that R20 million worth of Trifecta shares had been procured by corruption; and should therefore be forfeited.

CDP’s Reverend Theuns Botha said with politicians and deployed cadres are involved cadres, such as Free State MEC for Health Benny Malakoane who is out on bail for R20 000 for alleged fraud; the argument is made that someone is innocent until proven guilty by a court.
“Someone like Glynis Breytenbach was suspended until acquitted by a competent authority” Botha added.

Botha also said that suspension should be implemented to determine whether the person is guilty or not; and is either reinstated or dismissed depending on the outcome.
