The Chemical, Energy, Paper Printing, Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) is surprised at the article that was published in the Sunday Times-Alarm bells at PetroSA (30 September 2007) regarding them facing “high risk” ineffective administration in an internal audit report submitted to its board earlier this year.
“We confirm that we did submit a memorandum to the board of Petrosa regarding the unilateral restructuring and conditions of employment at the company,” says Deputy General for CEPPWAWU, Keith Jacobs.
Jacobs also confirmed that they did place a demand for the CEO to be released of his duties. That demand is due to them not putting a stop to the unilateral changes.
“We have never formally raised any matter in relation to the procurement issues, those issues we are still gathering information on,” says Jacobs.
He adds that they never raised any issues regarding the investigation of Minerals and Energy Affairs Minister, Lindiwe Hendricks, regarding a jet that she supposedly used to travel abroad.
