Today President Kgalema Motlanthe has declared four days of national mourning in honour of the late Doctor Nthato Motlana. All national flags, including those at diplomatic missions abroad, will be flown at half-mast.
The anti-apartheid activist, Motlana was, along with former president Nelson Mandela, accused in the 1952 Defiance Campaign Trial.
He was also an accomplished businessman and family physician to the Mandela family.
Motlanthe praised Motlana as a hero who contributed to what the country is today.
