The City of Cape Town has decided that it is getting rid of the ‘buddy buddy’ system because of officials and councilors who are appointing friends and family members for casual jobs that are available.
Director of Development Services Blommie Hendricks said “we have started a fair and equal process so that everyone can get a chance to register on the data base. The data base will then at random choose people when a job opportunity becomes available, so that everyone has a fair chance of getting work.”
Registration forms are available free of charge from all libraries, sub-council offices and ward councilors. Completed forms must be returned to the nearest sub-council office.
