Health and social development to separate

Health and social development departments in Gauteng will operate as two separate entities in future.

Premier Nomvula Mokonyane admitted in her State of the Province address today that the province’s health services need urgent attention.

National government is being consulted on the challenges facing the department as more people make use of its hospitals, without the public health budget being increased.

Gauteng will also try to recover the R1. 4 billion owed to it by government entities.
