Western Cape Premier Helen Zille hosted a summit with animal welfare organisations yesterday.
This forms part of the Premier’s efforts to ensure a direct approach to promoting animal welfare.
She wants to promote the humane treatment of domestic animals in the province.
Spokesperson for the Premier Zak Mbhele says the provincial government’s key role is disease prevention and management through by-laws and local policing.
