16 sentenced for rape in past 2 weeks in KZN

The Child Protection Unit and Sexual Offences Unit in Kwazulu Natal has arrested a total of 173 alleged rapists in the past two weeks.

The detectives started collecting information from various areas in the province on the 14th of June and finished on the 28th if June.

Police Spokesperson Thulani Zwane said the operation was done with the aim to ensure that justice is done.

Zwane said 16 dockets were opened and 16 suspects sentenced.

“All these suspects have already appeared before the various courts in KZN, and some of them were sentenced to the total of 103 years’ imprisonment” Zwane added.
