Four people have drowned around the Cape Coast in the past two days. The NSRI has expressed their heartfelt to the families affected.

An eight year-old girl lost her parents when they were washed off the rock at Bakhoven Camps Bay in Cape Town.

Speaking to Bush Radio this morning, NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon confirmed that the family are from Pakistan.

He says paramedics arrived on the scene and a rescue helicopter airlifted the woman to shore. They, however, could not resuscitate her and she was declared dead on the scene. A mans body, believed to be her husband, was found floating in the water.

A youth drowned at the mouth of the Palmiet River near Hermanus yesterday morning. It is believed three males were having difficulty in the water, but the 16-year-old was the only one who disappeared in the surf.

The fourth drowning was a 13-year-old boy who also disappeared in the surf while swimming.

Lambinon says searches will continue today to recover the bodies of missing people.
